1 New Message

Between 9:00 and 9:30 at night without fail, my phone alerts me that I have received a text message. I smile, Daniel says “Jessica.”, and I nod.  Because every night without fail, my dear friend Jessica O. does not forget to mass text a daily Bible verse that she hopes will inspire everyone in her life.

Today she quoted Psalm 73:26 that says “But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Such a small moment in the day, but I always look forward to it. It’s happened to me countless times that the verse she chooses just happens to be one that my heart needs to hear. Things like what Jessica does, proves that just because the days of finding index cards with inspirational notes and Bible scripture on them in my college mail box are over, does not mean that people stop communicating things in special and unique ways. God just makes it so that every day and in every stage of life, we get to uncover or open messages from Him to us.

  1. Just today in Bible study we were reading Deut. 6: 4-9, where it talks about binding the words of God on your foreheads and writing them on your gates and doorframes. Maybe texting is the modern version of binding them on your foreheads. After all, your ears and eyes are very close to your forehead, right? What a sweet thing for Jessica to do!
